Add or edit a student

Use Add a Student to add one student to an account holder who already exists. Use Edit on the student’s profile to change their details.

To add a new account holder and their students together, use Add account holders instead.

Rules for every student

These rules apply however a student is added: with Add a Student, on the Add Account Holders form, or from a CSV file. They also apply when you edit a student.

First Name and Last Name are required. Each is at most 32 characters.
Date of Birth is required. The student must be at least your organisation’s minimum age. The minimum age is 2 years unless your organisation changes it in company settings. The date picker does not let you pick a later date.
Medical Condition is optional. When you type one, it must be 10 to 1200 characters.
Internal Reference ID is optional. Use letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores only. Up to 32 characters.
An account holder can have only as many students as your Swimio plan allows.

Add a student

Select Students from the main menu.
Select Add a Student. The Add a Student window opens.
Type the Account Holder Email, and select Submit.
- Swimio finds the account holder and shows their name under Account Holder.
- To choose a different account holder, select Change.
Fill in the student:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of birth
- Medical Condition, if the student has one.
Select Submit.

Result: Swimio shows Student added successfully. The student shows in the list, and on the account holder’s Students tab.

The new student has no waitlist yet. To put them on one, see Add a student to a waitlist.

Edit a student

Open the student’s profile. See View a student.
Select Edit. The Edit Student window opens.
Change the details:
- First Name
- Middle Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Internal Reference ID
- Medical Condition
Select Save.

Result: Swimio shows Student updated successfully, and the profile shows the new details.

The Edit Student window does not change the student’s account holder.

Common problems

Problem	Why it happens	What to do
Account holder not found	No account holder uses that email address.	Check the email address on the Account Holders list. To add a new account holder, see Add account holders.
A student must be at least 2 years old to be added.	The date of birth is too recent for your organisation’s minimum age.	Check the date of birth.
The medical condition is too short	A medical condition must be at least 10 characters.	Describe the condition, or leave the field empty.
Swimio says the account holder has too many students	The account holder already has as many students as your plan allows.	Ask your Swimio administrator about your plan.
