Award schemes
An award scheme is one sport’s ladder of ability. It has levels, and each level has abilities worth points. Swimio uses the scheme to score students and to place them in a class that fits their level.
An award scheme belongs to one sport. It is never used for another sport. See Common terms: Award scheme.

Manage levels
Section titled “Manage levels”On the scheme’s edit page, select Manage Levels.
Swimio first warns Are you sure? Changing abilities changes the scheme’s maximum points, but students’ scores do not update by themselves. For example, a student with 5.0 out of 5.0 may show as 5.0 out of 6.0 after a change. Instructors must check and update those students’ scores. Select Dismiss to continue to open the page, or Go back to leave.
The Levels table shows each level with its Completion Points and Total Abilities.
How points work
Section titled “How points work”- Each ability has points.
- A level’s Completion Points are the points of its own abilities plus the points of every level before it. For example, level 1 has abilities worth 3 points and level 2 has abilities worth 2 points. Level 1 shows 3 and level 2 shows 5.
- The scheme’s maximum points are the completion points of its highest level.
- Swimio works these totals out again every time you add, change or delete a level.
