VIP and purgatory strikes
Two settings on a waitlist entry change who is offered a place first: VIP and purgatory strikes. You see and change both on a register’s waitlist. See View a register’s waitlist.
A VIP student is offered a place before other students.
- Smart Match puts VIP students before other students. Only students with no earliest start date come before them. See Who is matched first.
- Offer Space shows a VIP column, so you can spot and sort them.
Switch VIP on or off
Section titled “Switch VIP on or off”- Open the register’s waitlist, or the student’s Waiting Lists tab.
- Select the badge in the VIP column. It shows VIP or Non-VIP.
Result: the badge switches, and Swimio shows VIP status updated successfully.
Staff who can see VIP status but cannot change it see the value as text, with no badge to select.
Purgatory strikes
Section titled “Purgatory strikes”A purgatory strike is added to a waitlist entry each time:
- An offer to the student is rejected.
- An offer to the student expires with no answer.
- The student’s trial expires with no decision.
Strikes count on waitlist entries only. An offer made from a move request adds no strike.
The entry is “in purgatory” when it reaches 3 strikes. The strike count then shows Maximum (3). The count never goes above 3.
What the maximum does
Section titled “What the maximum does”A waitlist entry at the maximum:
- is not matched by Smart Match, and
- is not listed in Offer Space.
Nothing else happens. Swimio does not remove the entry, and it does not send an email to staff or to the account holder. The student stays on the waitlist. Staff can still find them on the register’s waitlist and on their profile.
The entry stays at the maximum until a staff member resets it.
Use this to stop offering places to a student who keeps turning them down, without removing them.
Change the strike count
Section titled “Change the strike count”On the register’s waitlist, the Purgatory Strike Count column shows the count and one action:
| The count shows | Action | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| None or a number of strikes | Set to Max | Puts the entry in purgatory at once. |
| Maximum | reset | Clears the strikes, so the student can be matched and offered places again. |
On the student’s Waiting Lists tab, an entry at the maximum shows Max Purgatory with a reset link.
Result: the count updates. After a reset, Swimio shows Waitlist purgatory status reset successfully.
