Move a student

Move a student when they need a different class in the same register, for example a different day or time. How the move works depends on the register type.

Register type	How a move works
Perpetual and Term	You create a move request. The student keeps their current place until a new place is offered and confirmed.
Crash Course	You make a direct move. The student moves at once.

What you need before starting

The register is active. You cannot move students in an archived or ended register. The Move tab is greyed out with Register is archived.
The student has a place in the class.

Open the Move tab

On the class card, select the student’s name. The Student Information window opens.
Select the Move tab.

Create a move request

For Perpetual and Term registers.

Under Preferred Days, tick each day the student can attend.
For each ticked day, set the From and To times the student is free.
Select Save Move Request.

Result: Swimio saves the move request. The student stays in their current class. The request now shows on the Move Requests page, and in the Move Requests tab of the Offer Space window for classes in this register that fit the student’s days and times. What happens next

Staff offer a free place in another class to the student, from the Move Requests tab. See Offer a space.
The offer goes through the normal path: an answer, an optional trial, then a confirm. See Offer and trial statuses.
When the new place is confirmed, the student moves.

After a move is confirmed

The student’s place in the old class ends after their last session there, before the new start date.
The old class card shows Moving action Required on the student’s row. Select it to offer the free place to someone else.
The student keeps the same enrolment. Only their class changes.

Make a direct move

For Crash Course registers.

Under Target Class, choose the class to move the student to. The list shows the other classes in this register.
Under Move From Session, choose the first session in the new class.
Select Move Student.
Swimio asks Move this student? It warns that the current place ends the day before the session you chose. Select Move student.

Result: the student moves at once. Their place in the old class ends the day before the chosen session, and their place in the new class starts on it.
