Class schedules
A class schedule is the repeating pattern of days a class runs on. You do not enter every session by hand. You set a start date and a day, and Swimio works out every session from that.
How a schedule is set
Section titled “How a schedule is set”Swimio sets the schedule when you create the class. How it does this depends on the register type.

When a schedule starts and stops
Section titled “When a schedule starts and stops”A class has sessions from its start date until the first of these:
- The register’s last active day.
- The day the class is archived. See Archive a class.
A Perpetual register has no end date. Its classes keep running until the class or the register is archived.
The register’s last active day is usually its end date. It can be later when a single session is moved or added after the end date. See Schedule exceptions.
The class days are fixed when you create the class
Section titled “The class days are fixed when you create the class”A register has class days: the days of the week it may run classes. When you create a class, Swimio saves the register’s class days with it.
If you change the register’s class days later, existing classes do not change. Their sessions stay on the same days, so students and billing are not moved without warning. The new days apply only to classes you add afterwards.
To use the new days on an existing class: edit the class, or create it again.
What changes a single session
Section titled “What changes a single session”The schedule is the normal pattern. Two things can change a session on one date without changing the pattern:
- A schedule exception cancels one session, moves it to another date or time, or adds a one-off session. See Schedule exceptions.
- A class closure closes classes on a date or date range, such as a public holiday. See Class closures.
The daily view shows these changes. A cancelled, moved, or closed session still shows a grey card on its normal date, so you can see what happened. See The class card.
Places and the schedule
Section titled “Places and the schedule”A student’s place in a class is kept by date. It does not change when the schedule changes. For example, cancelling one session does not remove any student from the class.
